The village and it's highlights

The idyllic ‘walser’ village is located on a natural sun terrace (1450m elevation) between the two holiday metropoles Davos and Lenzerheide. In the village itsself you can find a church, a sports store and also a little shop (‘Volg’) for some small, daily-life purchases.

Wiesen is famous for a very mild, dry climate. The annual precipitation here is only about two thirds of the precipitation in Zürich. The combination of low precipitation and lots of sunshine results in a relatively low humidity.

The Wiesner viaduct

The viaduct is accessible, is considered the start of the nature trail to Filisur and is the highest brick bridge of the Rhaetian Railway with a height of over 88 meters.

The Wiesner Alp

A ‘Maiensäss’ with breathtaking panoramic views and many well-preserved, sunburnt wooden stables and barges, which have been partially converted into weekend cottages. The highlight of the summer is the “Wiesner Alpfest” in July.

The Church

The village church is a Late Gothic design from the 15th century, renovated in 1985 and equipped with a beautiful rococo organ from 1774. Definitely worth a visit!

The village museum

The village museum shows how farmers lived in the 19th century. In addition to a kitchen, living room and a bedroom there is also a sewing room and a weaving room open for visitation. During the summer, special exhibitions are on display.
